We were awoken at half past 7 today and quickly got up and changed ready for our activities. Before we started, we had a little bit of free time so we played wink murder, Chinese whispers and had a 'moo' off. After this, we made our sandwiches ready for lunch time and then enjoyed our breakfast. Then we set off on our activities, some of us enjoyed rock climbing; others enjoyed canoeing, environmental art or archery. Afterwards, we got some time in the shop before we had our BBQ. Unf...

Firstly, we all got on the bus. When we got to Horstaed, we all had a tour of the house and where we would be sleeping. We then chose our beds and unpacked our suitcases. After that we had our lunch in the big dining room. Then came the activities, Mr. Millican's group had a go at archery with many showing that they could be future Olympians! Mrs Minns' group went canoeing along the river, whilst Mrs Mills' group were rock climbing and zip wiring. Afterwards, we got to have some free...

On Thursday 3rd of October, Kingfishers went to Redgrave and Lopham fen. We started off by walking down to the river. On the way down we were trying to spot different aspects of the environment including trees, plants and birds. When we got to the river we had to take some measurements, we looked at the sides of the bank and their steepness, how quick the water was flowing, the temperature of the water and the height and depth of the water. We did this at 3 separate points to see how...

On 24th September, Robins class travelled back in time to 1899 on their visit to Great Cressingham Victorian School. We dressed up as Victorian school children and spent the day in the classroom participating in lessons including reading, writing and arithmetic. We wrote on slate boards and even got to use ink pens! At break time, we went outside and played with Victorian toys including wooden and metal hoops and skipping ropes, spinning tops, skittles and quoits. We looked around th...

On Wednesday we opened the school doors for an all day session of The Club.  The children who attended had a fantastic day of fitness, first aid and fun. After a morning learning about and using muscles, they learnt how to call an ambulance, how to put someone in the recovery position and even used a defibrillator.

Afternoon snack was either cucumber or beans from the school garden which the children picked themselves. They also harvested the garlic that had been planted earlier...

P.E in our school was celebrated this week in our annual Sports Day. The children warmed up with stretching followed by a lolly stick hunt around the school grounds. Running, egg and spoon and sack races were enthusiastically cheered on by the many parents who had come to watch. The house team relay race was hotly contested as were the parents' bean bag on the head races!

The whole afternoon was a great success with children encouraging each other, working together as a team and demo...

This week the whole school came together to celebrate the arts within a theme of MUSICALS. As well as learning to sing various well-known songs such as Lets go fly a kite and I wanna be like you, the children produced lots of beautiful art work. Wrens and Robins focused on the Lion King and made some beautiful masks,  Kingfishers investigated musical instruments after hearing some music from School of Rock, Barn Owls drew playground pictures and made their own kites as they listened...

After weeks of making their houses from the era of the Great Fire of London, children from Kingfishers class finally saw them go up in flames. The children watched enthusiastically as the wind spread the fire along the houses from number 1, to number 26.

Today the whole school spent time focussing on the important issue of how to keep safe whilst using the Internet. Mr Millican led an assembly on the subject and then the children completed a variety of activities in their classes.

You can see much of their work around the school and in the classrooms.

We would encourage parents to talk to their children about what they have learnt. If you are unsure where to start, the NSPCC has some good ideas here https://www.nspcc.org.uk...

Today we celebrated World Book Day. The pupils looked absolutely amazing coming dressed up as their favourite characters from a wide range of books. We were incredibly lucky to be joined by an author and the children were very keen to enquire about life as an author and what it entailed. We also had our very first 'book swap' where lots of children brought in a book from home and swapped it for another child's book. They were very excited about their 'new' books and there was a real...
