Trip to Redgrave and Lopham Fen
On Thursday 3rd of October, Kingfishers went to Redgrave and Lopham fen. We started off by walking down to the river. On the way down we were trying to spot different aspects of the environment including trees, plants and birds. When we got to the river we had to take some measurements, we looked at the sides of the bank and their steepness, how quick the water was flowing, the temperature of the water and the height and depth of the water. We did this at 3 separate points to see how the river develops and changes as it flows downstream. After this, we headed back to the centre for some interactive activities. We looked at how we use water and how we can save it, we did a physical interpretation of the water cycle and we found out how the water level of a river can change due to several factors. It was a very educational day which enriched the children's understanding of rivers and the water cycle.
