“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn”
-Fred Donaldson
In EYFS at All Saints we meet children where they are in their development and understand that each child is unique. Every child starts school having had different experiences and having different strengths and needs. We provide them with a warm and nurturing environment where they will be supported from their starting to point to reach their true potential. We offer a broad and enriching curriculum which is in part formed each year by the interests of the incoming cohort. We want to support the development of active learners, children who are creative and can think critically and children who are confident to ‘have a go’ (CoEL). We understand that play is essential and our dedicated team, supports children to engage in purposeful play, to enrich and develop their language and understanding and provide many other additional learning opportunities.
Our reception classroom is set out to allow children to access resources independently. We have put a lot of consideration into our indoor and outdoor areas to best support children's development. We have several different areas of provision, provision maps of which can be found at the bottom of the page.
“The exceptionally well-organised learning environment aides the development of children’s independence and decision-making”- Ofsted 2024
Each year we think of more ways to enrich children's learning and offer them more first-hand experiences. Last year (25-26) we welcomed tractors, calves, fire engines, police men, rally cars, reptiles and minibeasts, balance bikes and other exciting people and things into our school. We also worked hard to give children a platform to develop their confidence and show off their learning with our end of topic talks which have been a big hit with parents! We look forward to doing even more this year!
